The Lies About karma We Tend to Believe.
You would've heard the saying “what goes around comes around”, “you do good, you get good back”.
Many people tend to have contradicting opinions and doubts regarding this.
Such as, if karma is really real then why do innocent kind hearted souls suffer? If karma is real then why do corrupt people live lives lavishly? If karma is real then why don't all the good people, experience good and why don't all bad people, experience bad?
You might be one of the people, having such thoughts and doubts. Let me clear them out for you.
To start, what is karma?
Karma is known to be an action or a deed one takes or does respectively. So, as said, do a good deed, you get a good deed back & vice versa. It is a spiritual concept, a quite complex one at that. However, you don't have to be spiritual to follow it of course.
What you reap is what you sow. Plant a seed of an apple tree, you grow an apple tree. Have you ever planted a seed for some plant & some other plant is grown? No right? This is also how karma works. You constantly plant seeds with your actions. So you make the path for your life.
So why don't all good people experience good & why don't all bad people experience bad?
This concept of karma, in my opinion, goes hand in hand with past lives. What do I mean by this? If lets take an example of a person who consistently hurts others, however good always comes his way. But why? Because that is his karma.
What? But didn't you just mention that he hurts other? Yes. In his current life. In his past life, he would've done a lot of good karma to be able to abuse it in this life of his.
This goes the same for those with good karma in their present life experiencing bad karma. In their past lives they could've caused pain to others so they are getting it back. But, by doing good in their present life, they're making a better future for themselves, that future could be seen in their present life or the next one. But karma will always be atoned.
So, whatever you are experiencing is your own doing. Any type of excitement, pain, love, happiness or hurt that you feel. You brought it to yourself.
Karma is an investment you make. A long term one in that case.
“Regardless of what we do, our karma has no hold on us.” — Bodhidharma
Are you one of those people, who sometimes feels sad over lives of others, when you have a good thing going? Thinking they never got to experience the joys of your life. Feeling down because of that?
I used to be one of those people. I, ever since i was a very small child, got to experience abundance in almost every area of my life. I used to feel bad for those who didn't get to experience the same thing as me, even cry over it in fact, even though it was out of my control.
Thinking, “it wasn't their fault why do they get to live like that and me like this? Why cant we live the same life? I would feel miserable in their position.”
And then I thought about karma. We all are souls, who have taken a lot of rebirths. To the point, we all have gone through everything (almost). So, in some life, the positions could've been switched. Everyone has their own turn for the life they live and make. Now that point of view and thought made me call back my energy from thoughts and feelings about things that I couldn't control.
Maybe, you were or are in the same situation as me. Think about what I said as changing your outlook can create a huge difference. Things are just as you see them to be.
